What is hypnobirthing?

Hypnobirthing is widely recognised to reduce anxiety, stress and tension and teaches you visualisation and self-hypnosis skills to use throughout your pregnancy and birthing journey.

Hypnobirthing will reframe the way you think of labour. Practicing hypnobirthing can alleviate fear, anxiety and tension during pregnancy and labour. Thus, reducing the need for pain relief and intervention, postnatal well being and connection with your baby is also significantly improved.

Don’t just take my word for it...

Here's what practicing midwife Maria Soares (RGN, RM) says...

"In my 14 years as midwife, I have supported and witnessed so many Hypnobirthing births and Hypnobirthing babies being born.  It's such a magic and wonderful moment to observe women and their birthing partners feeling so empowered, so in control. Their mind sets are amazing, they know their body and their baby will work together for the best outcome, and they trust the process... the atmosphere in the birthing room is so calm and relaxed, is full of love and positive energy. This provides the perfect conditions your body requires to produce oxytocin - the love hormone which is a very important hormone that you need during childbirth, but also all the others like beta-endorphins (the hormones of pleasure and transcendence), epinephrine and norepinephrine (the hormones of excitement) and prolactin (the mothering hormone).

But this is not all, even when things don't go to plan, Hypnobirthing people have the wonderful ability to remain in control, allowing their brain to think things through and their body to continue to do what does best and to make the best choices for them, for their babies and their families, avoided traumatic experience that can lead them into post-traumatic stress disorder.
